Websites for North Carolina care homes.

A website for your North Carolina home, for $300 flat.

North Carolina licenses small homes through two sections of the same division. Below: which is which, linked to the statute and the rules, and what to put on your site.

The names

The Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) licenses the small homes on this page, through two sections: Adult Care Licensure and Mental Health Licensure and Certification. Each kind links to its source.

Family Care Home

An adult care home with two to six residents.

Read the rule G.S. 131D-2.1 DHSR Adult Care Licensure

Adult Care Home

An assisted living residence giving 24-hour personal care. The Adult Care Licensure Section licenses homes of seven or more beds under this name.

Supervised Living

24-hour residential services in a home setting for people with a mental illness, a developmental disability or a substance use disorder. It has to be licensed once it serves two or more adults. One designation is a private family home with no more than three adults.

Checked against each linked page on 1 October 2026. This is a plain summary, not legal advice: the rule itself, or the agency, has the final word.

Your site

  1. Use the words people type. In North Carolina people search for a family care home with the name of a town. Put the licence name and your town in the first line of your site.
  2. Say which section licenses you. A home giving personal care to adults is licensed by Adult Care Licensure. A home for adults with a mental illness, a developmental disability or a substance use disorder is supervised living, licensed by Mental Health Licensure. The people referring to each are different, so say which you are.
  3. Two to six, said plainly. A family care home has two to six residents. Say how many beds you have and whether one is open, and change it from your admin page the day it changes.
  4. A family home, if that’s what you are. One supervised living designation is a private family home with no more than three adults. If that’s you, your site should look and read like a home, not a facility.
  5. Photos, phone, tour. Real photos of the real rooms, a phone that gets answered, and a tour form for after hours.
